HONOLULU — Coming off the program's fourth Big West Conference tournament championship, the University of Hawai'i women's basketball team will make its eighth appearance in the NCAA Championship Tournament Friday, March 17
th.
After receiving the automatic bid into the national championship tournament as the No. 14 seed of the Greenville 2 Bracket, the Rainbow Wahine will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to take on the No. 9 ranked Tigers as they will serve as the No. 3 seed of the bracket.
Last season UH entered the tournament as the No. 15 seed and traveled to No. 2 seed Baylor, marking it as the lowest seed the 'Bows ever received. UH is 1-6 all-time in the tournament, with their only win coming in 1990.
LSU enters the tournament as a national powerhouse under legendary head coach Kim Mulkey. Previously Mulkey won three national championships at Baylor, and last season in her first season at LSU, the Tigers lost in the second round. The Tigers enter the tournament with a 28-2 record, with their only two losses coming against No. 1 South Carolina and No. 23 Tennessee.
Tip-off has yet to be set and will be announced in the coming days.
