LA JOLLA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i water polo team picked up where it left off two weeks ago with an 18-8 victory over No. 20 San Diego State Friday evening at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
The Rainbow Wahine (6-0) have won six straight matches to begin the season, and six have come against nationally ranked opponents. The Aztecs (2-4) played earlier in the day and fell to No. 9 Fresno State 15-7 and will enter Saturday at 0-2 in bracket C.
It was a fast and dominant start by the 'Bows as they outscored the Aztecs 10-0 to start the match. SDSU was able to sneak a goal in with 1:05 remaining in the second quarter to make it 10-1 at the half. Head coach
Maureen Cole mixed and matched lineups in the second half and outscored the Aztecs 8-7 over the next two quarters for the eventual final.

Junior Bridgett Layburn split time with freshman
Charlotte Edler at goalie, as Layburn played the first half and Edler the second. Layburn recorded six saves while allowing just one goal, as Edler notched four saves over two quarters.
UH will begin Saturday with a rematch against Fresno State, beginning at 8:20 a.m. HT. UH knocked off the Bulldogs on January 22
nd in a 13-6 victory in Fresno, Calif., as a part of Bulldog Fest.
