SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place after the first day of The Causeway Invitational Monday at the Del Paso Country Club. Play was suspended early in the second round due to darkness.
The Rainbow Wahine carded a first round 307, which tied for ninth among the 13-team field. Through two holes of Round 2, UH is 5-under and tied for seventh overall at 13-over par for the tournament.
Washington holds the lead at 4-over par, which included a first round 292, followed by Brigham Young (+7), California (+8) and Sacramento State (+8). UC Davis' Abigail Leighton leads the player leaderboard at 2-under followed by a group of four golfers who are one stroke back.
UH's
Hyeonji Kang shot a first round 1-over 73 to lead the Rainbow Wahine and is even par for the tournament and tied for sixth place.
Mayumi Umezu carded a 75 but is 2-under through two holes in her second round and tied for 10
th place at 1-over.
