HONOLULU – The Hawai'i baseball team used an offensive explosion and a number of strong individual efforts on the mound in a 16-7 win over Wright State Sunday, securing the series victory.
UH scored 10 runs in the first two innings, highlighted by an eight-run second inning, as the Rainbow Warriors racked up 14 total hits with four different players turning multi-hit games.
The 'Bows struck first for the second straight game, pushing across a pair of runs in the first. After a couple of free passes and a single,
Kyson Donahue opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly to left before
Dallas Duarte came home on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Hawai'i (3-1) broke things open in the second inning, scoring eight runs and sending 12 batters to the plate to make it 10-0. The 'Bows scored the first two runs of the frame on an infield hit and squeeze bunt before
Jacob Igawa plated two to make it 6-0 and chase Wright State (1-3) starter Alex Theis.
UH then scored four two-out runs as
Matt Wong delivered an RBI single before coming around to score from first on
Ben Zeigler-Namoa's run-scoring double one batter later.
Stone Miyao made it 9-0 with another RBI double and
Jared Quandt capped off the inning with a single to right, plating Miyao.
The Rainbow Warriors added three more in the fourth inning, starting with
Kyson Donahue's no-doubt solo shot to right center to lead off the inning. Quandt picked up another RBI with a single later in the frame and Zeigler-Namoa came across on a fielder's choice, making it 13-0.
Hawai'i added single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings while Wright State struck for four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to give the game its final score.

Cameron Hagan followed and tossed three innings, allowing two runs, while
Levi Kiuchi and
Sean Wiese each also tossed scoreless innings of relief.
The 'Bows scored 36 runs over the four games, 28 of which came in the last two, while racking up 13 extra-base hits and hitting .306 as a team. Zeigler-Namoa hit .400 with three doubles, a homer and seven RBIs over the weekend while
