Arizona Downs Shorthanded Women's Tennis, 6-1

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's team (1-4) dropped its second match to Arizona (7-1), 6-1 on Saturdy morning at the UH Tennis Complex. The shorthanded Rainbow Wahine had to forfeit one doubles match and two singles matches due to illness.

In doubles, the Rainbow Wahine battled but fell in both matches by a break. Arizona's Kayla Wilkins and Parker Fry held off Hawai'i's Madison Kim and Anna Kern, 6-4. On Court No. 1, UA's Reece Carter and Salma Ziouti defeated UH's Satsuki Takamura and Rita Pinto, 6-4.

Takamura recorded UH's lone win of the match. Playing at No. 1, Takamura bounced back after dropping the first set. She evened the match holding off Carter by a break in Set 2, then doubled up on her opponent to win the super tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5).

The matches against Arizona concluded the Rainbow Wahine's month-long homestand to start the season. The 'Bows have a quick turnaround now as they hit the road for their first roadtrip of the season. UH will play three matches in California beginning a conference match at UC Riverside on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Hawai'i will then head to San Diego to take on San Diego State on Thursday, Feb. 16 and San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 18.
