HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team won their fifth-straight match, sweeping Azusa Pacific, 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.
In doubles, UH's No. 1 and No. 2 duos won to notch the first point of the match. UH's No. 1
Andre Ilagan and
Karl Collins defeated Leyton Bohren, and Marko Nikoliuk, 6-2. Later,
Axel Labrunie and
Kilian Maitre held off Elias Emilio Walter and Miha Velick, 7-5.
Ilagan nearly blanked Walter to start singles, 6-1, 6-1 at No.1. UH's No. 5
Andy Hernandez then defeated L. Bohren, 6-1, 6-3. Maitre playing at No. 6 then knocked off Cole Rassner, 6-2, 6-0.
Lucas Labrunie followed at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Brody Bohren.
Guillaume Tattevin held off Velick by a break in both sets, 6-4, 6-4. Axel Labunie capped the match winning in a a third set super tie-breaker over Nikoliuk, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (7).
The Rainbow Warriors will now have a month off before playing at the Sacramento State Invitational on March 10-11.
