Women's Basketball Faces San Jose State To Close Homestand

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team concludes a six-game homestand by taking on San Jose State on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The matchup with the Spartans will mark UH's final home game of 2023.

The UH-SJSU game will lead off a Military Appreciation Day and Keiki Doubleheader at the arena. The game will be followed by the men's basketball game between the Rainbow Warriors and Central Arkansas at 5 p.m.

Season tickets for women's basketball will be honored for the women's/men's basketball doubleheader. Single-game purchases will be priced for men's basketball. Tickets will be eligible for both games.

TIPOFF

• Sunday's game will mark the 61st meeting between Hawai'i and San Jose State with UH holding a 43-17 lead in the series. The teams met last season in San Jose, Calif., with the Rainbow Wahine earning a 54-43 win at Provident Credit Union Event Center. 

• UH is coming off a 1-2 finish in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown. The 'Bows opened the Thanksgiving weekend tournament with a 54-51 loss to Air Force, then defeated Idaho State 58-46, and fell to Washington 58-41 in the tournament finale on Nov. 26.  

• Sophomore forward Imani Perez enters the game leading the team with 8.6 points per game and shooting a team-high .500 from the field.

• Junior forward/center Brooklyn Rewers continues to top the rebounding chart with 7.1 boards per game.

• Junior guard MeiLani McBee leads the 'Bows with 15 3-pointers this season and ranks ninth in program history with 113 for her career.

• UH entered the week second in the Big West in scoring defense in allowing 58.3 points per game. Opponents are shooting 35.9% on field-goal attempts overall, the second lowest mark in the Big West.

• UH has held opponents to 22.9% shooting on 3-point attempts, which ranks first in the Big West and 26th among Division I teams.

• UH picked up the program's 300th win in SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center with the victory over Idaho State on Nov. 25. The Rainbow Wahine are 300-189 in the arena since its opening in the 1994-95 season. UH is 2-3 at home this season.
