Women's Basketball Signs Trio From Down Under

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball program strengthened its connections Down Under by signing two players from New Zealand and one from Australia to the incoming recruiting class for the 2024-25 season.

Rainbow Wahine head coach Laura Beeman announced the signing of 6-foot-2 forward Rebecca Moors and 6-foot-5 center Ritorya Tamilo — both of whom have international experience in New Zealand's national program — and 6-foot-1 forward Danijela Kujovic of Victoria, Australia in the fall signing period.

Moors and Tamilo are slated to be the sixth and seventh players from New Zealand in program history. Tamilo was selected to New Zealand's national team this year and played against top-level competition in two international events this year. Moors also represented the country this year with the junior national team.

Kujovic will be the 13th player from Australia to join the Rainbow Wahine, joining a line that includes Raylene Howard, Tanya Smith and Amy Atwell, who completed her career in 2022 as UH's all-time leading 3-pointer shooter. Current UH freshman Jade Peacock (Gold Coast) extended the program's connection with Australia in signing with the 'Bows in last year's recruiting class.

DANIJELA KUJOVIC
Forward, 6 foot 1
Victoria, Australia

• Attends Our Lady of Mercy College in Victoria and played for the Bulleen Boomers club team.
• Helped Bulleen win U-18 National Junior Classic in 2022 and the Big V Youth League and Women's championships in 2023.
• Named the Big V Youth League Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 when she averaged nine blocks per game.
• Named to the Victoria Under-20 State team for the 2023 Australian Junior Championships by Basketball Victoria.

Coach Beeman on Danijela Kujovic: "Dani is a knockdown shooter and gets after it on the defensive end. She doesnʻt shy away from contact and has the skill to play multiple positions. Dani also has international experience playing for the U18 National Junior Classic Team, 2023 Big V Championship team and was the Big V Youth League Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. Her mother, Joscelin, father, Miki, and three sisters were instrumental to the recruiting process. We think Dani has a bright future for our program and will add to the lineage of Australian players that have been instrumental to our team's success."

REBECCA MOORS
Forward, 6 foot 2
Auckland, New Zealand

• Competed in basketball, volleyball and netball at Westlake Girls High School, where she averaged 20.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.2 steals, 4.3 assists and 2.2 blocks per game.
• Was named the MVP of the Basketball New Zealand National Championships while leading Westlake to the national championship.
• Named to New Zealand's U-17 team and averaged 10 points and 6.4 rebounds over five games in FIBA the U17 Oceania Championship while helping the Junior Tall Ferns to a runner-up finish.
• Named an all-star at the NBA Basketball Without Borders Asia Camp in Abu Dhabi.
• Plays club basketball with Harbour Basketball and is a member of the BNZ Northern Kahu program. Competed as an amateur to preserve her college eligibility.

Coach Beeman on Rebecca Moors: "We are excited to have Rebecca Moors join our 'ohana. Her ability to make plays will add a great dimension to our team. She has great international experience playing for the New Zealand U17 team. Rebecca was selected to the 2023 NZ Tournament Team and was the 2023 NZ Nationals MVP. We are excited to welcome her mom Dionne and five siblings to the Wahine Basketball program and believe that Rebecca's experience, demeanor and positive attitude are going to have a significant impact on our program."

RITORYA TAMILO
Center, 6 foot 5
Auckland, New Zealand

• Played for New Zealand in the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup (6.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.1 blocks per game) in Hungary in 2022 and the FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship (6.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg) in Jordan in 2021.

• Played for BNZ Northern Kahu, which won the NZ Tauihi League championship. Competed as an amateur to preserve her college eligibility.

Coach Beeman on Ritorya Tamilo: "Ritorya brings incredible versatility to our program. She has the ability to run the floor, post up and shoot the 3. She fits perfectly into our system on both sides of the ball. Her length is a great addition at the basket as a shot blocker and big target offensively. Ritorya has been selected to the 2023 Tall Ferns and was also a member of the U17 New Zealand Team. She resides in Auckland with her parents, Tofu and Sharlene, and sisters, Bryanna and Janaiyah, and we know that for them Hawai'i feels like home. We are thrilled to have Ritorya join the 'ohana. Her potential impact as an elite post player raises the ceiling of our program."
