HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team wrapped up the 2023 Weinman Foundation Invitational on Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex. Although the Rainbow Wahine were short some players, the 'Bows fought hard to earn a pair of doubles wins and three singles victories.

In doubles, the Hawai'i duo of Alexis Merrill and Rita Pinto notched their second doubles win of the season, defeating California's Erin Richardson and Berta Passola, 6-3. UH's team of Anna Kern and Madison Kim also collected their second win of the tourney as they downed Cal's Cami Brown and Makenna Thiel, 6-3.

Hawai'i's Kaitlyn Ralar notched her first singles win of the year by quickly dispatched Washington State's Tiffany Phout in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Merrill recorded her second-straight singles win, knocking off Cal's Cami Brown, 6-3, 6-3. UH's Kim also earned her second-straight singles win, holding off California's Erin Richardson. Kim bounced back after dropping the first set to claim the second to even the match at 1-1 in sets. Kim led 5-2 in the third, but Richardson came charging back to knot the score at 5-5. Kim regrouped and won the next two games to seal the win, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Next up, the Rainbow Wahine will play their first dual match of the season against East Tennessee on Thursday, Jan. 12 at the UH Tennis Complex.
