IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i redshirt freshman
Kurt Nusterer received the Big West's Freshman of the Week award, Monday after his performances last week in the top-ranked Rainbow Warriors' trip to the state of North Carolina.
The middle blocker from Indianapolis, Ind., averaged 2.20 kills and 0.80 blocks per set and hit .714 clip with 11 kills in 14 attempts. He made his first career start against Barton and recorded career-highs of seven kills and three blocks. He did not commit an attack error in eight attempts.
Nusterer also came off the bench and recorded four kills in two sets played against Belmont Abbey. He served one ace in each of the two matches.
Prior to last weekend, the freshman appeared in two matches and two sets played.
