HONOLULU – Former University of Hawai'i men's volleyball player Howard Matsuba is the 2023 recipient of the Pae Makaukau Alumni Recognition Award. Matsuba received his award at the 12
thAnnual A'o a Koa Scholarship Dinner, Sunday, January 21 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
Matsuba lettered for UH for one year in 1974 before graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1975. He attended medical school at Columbia University specializing in hand surgery and recently retired after 30 years at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles.
He and his wife, Jo-Anne have two daughters who both grew up in Los Angeles. He is an avid supporter of the men's volleyball program and the UH Letterwinners Club.

th year giving fans an opportunity to meet head coach

Chad Giesseman – and the current Rainbow Warrior volleyball team.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund the Rainbow Warrior volleyball program for summer school scholarships, recruiting, video equipment and additional/camp staff. The event also featured entertainment and a silent auction.
