Rainbow Sailors Kick Off Spring Season With Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite

HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii's sailing team hosts the annual Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite January 14-15th at Ke'ehi Lagoon.

After a fall season that saw both the coed and women's teams travel as far as New York—site of this year's national championships—the Rainbow sailors host the first of two spring events in their home waters. UH will also host the conference championship in April.

UH looks to capture the Rainbow Invite for the seventh straight time. Last year the Rainbows claimed the regatta in dramatic fashion, winning by two points over Salve Regina University with a strong finish in the final rotation of the weekend.

The 'Bows will defend its regatta crown this year against a dozen schools from across the country. The diverse field includes teams from Arizona, California, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia as well as British Columbia, Canada. Host Hawai'i will field four squads - two coed and two women's - round out a pool of 18 competing teams.
