HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i senior defensive lineman
Jonah Kahahawai-Welch is among a list of 115 players on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. The award is known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service."
A fifth-year senior from Kailua, Oahu, Kahahawai-Welch has appeared in 12 career games as a back-up defensive lineman and special teams player. He joined the Rainbow Warriors after a standout career at Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama.

The award is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida. The Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world.
Semifinalists will be announced on November 1 and finalists will be announced on November 22. The formal announcement of the 2022 recipient will be made on December 8 and the presentation of the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy will occur on February 24, 2023.
