A pair of national publications – Athlon Sports and Phil Steele's – recognized several members of the University of Hawai'i football team on its preseason all-Mountain West teams.
 
Defensive lineman Blessman Ta'ala was the team's highest rated player, landing on Athlon's second team. The fifth-year senior from Aua, American Samoa has played in 51 career games and was a two-time honorable mention selection in 2019 and '20.
 
Four Rainbow Warriors were selected to both lists – running back Dedrick Parson (3^rd-Athlon, 4^th-Phil Steele), offensive linemen Ilm Manning (3^rd-Athlon, 4^th-Phil Steele), offensive lineman Micah Vanterpool (3^rd-Athlon, 4^th-Phil Steele), and linebacker Penei Pavihi (4^th-Athlon, 4^th-Phil Steele).
 
Manning (47), Vanterpool (16), and Pavihi (29) have a combined 92 career starts while Parson was the team's second leading rusher (618) last season.
 
In addition, tight end Caleb Phillips was named to Athlon's third team and kicker Matthew Shipley was selected to Phil Steele's fourth team as a punter.
