GREENWOOD, Ind.—University of Hawai'i men's tennis player
Andre Ilagan was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 team in the At-Large category.
The Honolulu, O'ahu native is just the third Rainbow Warrior to earn the Academic All-District award and he is the first since men's tennis player Felix Albert earned the honor twice in 2017 and '18. Ilagan now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
Ilagan is one of two men's tennis players to earn a spot on the all-district team which also included UH men's volleyball setter Jakob Thelle.
District 8 includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Oregon, Utah, and Washington and Canada.
The first Rainbow Warrior tennis player to garner District 8 honors was Andreas Weber who earned second-team honors in 2008.
The 2021‐22 Academic All‐District® Men's At‐Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
