Rainbow Wahine Add De'Audra Brown to Coaching Staff

HONOLULU— The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team and head coach Laura Beeman announced the addition of assistant coach De'Audra Brown to the staff Thursday morning.

"We are excited to introduce and welcome De'Audra Brown to our 'ohana," said Beeman. "Coach Brown's experience, energy, knowledge, and commitment to relationships make her a perfect fit for our program. Her work ethic, integrity, and dedication to the young women she coaches will help our players become their best selves both off and on the court. After a magical 2021-22 season, she is ready to hit the court running and compete for another championship."

Brown comes to UH from New Mexico State, where she spent five seasons under head coach Brooke Atkinson. She helped lead the Aggies to two straight Western Athletic Conference regular-season titles in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, along with a tournament championship in 2019. During the 2018-19 campaign, the Aggies tied a program record for wins in a season with 26.

While coaching various notable players during her tenure, Brooke Salas was one of the most dominant. She was named the first-ever player in the WAC to be named both WAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.

Before joining the NMSU staff, Brown spent her time in the junior college ranks as an assistant coach at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas, from 2015 to 2017 and Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Arizona, from 2013 to 2015. Brown went to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament three times during those four seasons, coached four all-conference team members and four NJCAA All-Americans, and won an NJCAA Region VI regular-season championship.

Most notably, while a member of the Seward County Community College staff, Brown was named to the WBCA 30 under 30 coaches list during the 2016-17 season.

Brown is a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Elizabeth City State University, where she concluded her playing career in 2012.
