IRVINE, Calif.— The Big West announced its all-academic honorees for its winter sports, with three University of Hawaii women's basketball players making the list.
Graduate
Amy Atwell (Marketing Management), freshman
Meilani McBee (Public Health), and redshirt freshman
Olivia Davies (Psychology) make up the list for the Rainbow Wahine in 2022. It's the first time McBee has been named to the All-Academic Team, while it marks the second time for Davies and a program-record fifth time for Atwell.
Since becoming eligible during the 2017-18 campaign, Atwell has made the academic team every single season of her career. She graduated in May of 2021 with two bachelor's degrees, and while being drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2022 WNBA Draft earlier this week, Atwell is currently working on her master's degree.
To be eligible for the all-academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
