HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team (5-6, 0-0 Big West) dropped its opening game of the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic to Baylor, 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium

Brianna Lopez fired a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
The Bears struck first. McKenzie Wilson got on board via a leadoff walk. She hustled into third after a muffed throw to first on a sacrifice bunt. Wilson scored on a sacrifice fly to foul territory in left by Emily Hott for the early 1-0 lead.
With two outs, the Rainbow Wahine rallied on two to knot the score at 1-1 in the third.
Nawai Kaupe picked up UH's first hit of the game with a single to left field. She moved to second on a wild pitch and beat the throw to the plate to score on an
Izabella Martinez RBI-single up the middle.
Baylor went back into the lead on an RBI double to right by the Baylor pitcher Aliya Binford which scored Hott all the way from first for the go ahead run to lead, 2-1.
Baylor pitcher Binford earned the complete game win, giving up just one run on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
Next up: The Rainbow Wahine will take on California on Day 2 of the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic on Thursday, March 10 at 6:00 p.m.
