HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team knocked off Long Beach State, 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. With the win, Hawai'i evened their overall record at 3-3 while remaining unbeaten and atop the Big West standings at 3-0. The Beach fell to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in conference action.

The Beach took the early 1-0 lead after seizing the doubles point, winning on courts 2 and 1. Hawai'i's No. 3 duo of Gitte Heynemans and Nidhi Surapaneni were able to defeat LBSU's Claire Le Du and Andreea Ciormei by a break, 6-4.

But in singles, the 'Bows battled back. On the No. 6 court, UH's Madison Kim got things going with a quick 6-3, 6-1 win over the Beach's Ciormei that evened the score at 1-1. UH's No. 3, Ana Vilcek then recorded a straight-set win over Sheena Masuda, 6-1, 6-4 to give UH its first lead at 2-1. Léa Romian kept things rolling with a three set win over LBSU's Zara Lennon, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Long Beach State's Nikola Homolkova stalled the streaking Rainbow Wahine with a three set win over UH's No. 1 Satsuki Takamura, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. But Tal Talya Zandberg then clinched the match with a 7-6 (6), 6-2 win over Le Du at No. 4. UH's No. 5, Heynemans then hung on to edge out Peppi Ramstedt in a hard fought, come-from-behind win, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3) to put the final touch on the win.
