TUCSON, Ariz.  – The  ninth-ranked University of Hawai'i beach volleyball team capped a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Cactus Classic with a pair of wins on Saturday. UH swept Arizona State, 5-0, before concluding the tournament with a 4-1 win over host and No. 13 Arizona.
 
UH improved to 6-3 overall on the season following a stellar performance in which it dropped just one point all weekend, while taking 16 of the 20 match-ups by straight sets.
 
In the first match of the day, UH had little trouble with Arizona State (3-3). UH won all five courts in straight sets, highlighted by a convincing 21-15, 21-12 win by Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle over Anya Pemberton and Rylie Kael at the top flight. The 'Bows remain undefeated in eight all-time meetings with the Sun Devils.
 
UH then concluded the tournament by taking on Arizona (4-2) on its home court. The nationally-ranked Wildcats provided the stiffest test of the weekend, but the 'Bows were still able to pull out a 4-1 vicotry. The Wildcats tied the dual 1-1 as Sarah Blacker and Maja Kaiser squeezed past Kylin Loker and Riley Wagoner 21-19, 26-24. UH, however, reeled off the next three points, including the clincher on Court No. 1 where Glagau and Van Sickle out-lasted Alex Parkhurst and Alana Rennie 21-15, 18-21, 15-10.
 
The Rainbow Wahine now return home to host the Outrigger Queen's Cup, March 10-12 at Queen's Beach. Joining UH in the tournament are Nebraska, UC Davis and nationally-ranked squads TCU and California.
