HONOLULU – The fourth-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will face its toughest test of the 2022 season with a pair of Big West Conference matches against No. 2 Long Beach State, Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif. The match-up features the NCAA's last three national champions and the top two teams in the Big West standings. The Rainbow Warriors (18-3, 3-1 BWC) won the last two meetings in the series however the Beach (14-3, 3-1) have won seven straight over UH in the Pyramid. Saturday's match will be televised nationally on ESPNU at 7:30 p.m. PT (4:30 p.m. HT).

- UH (18-3, 3-1 BWC) enters this week's series with a five-match win streak and are coming off a series sweep of CSUN last week in Honolulu.
- Long Beach State (14-3, 3-1 BWC) has won its last four matches, including a series sweep of No. 6 UC Santa Barbara last week.
- The teams won the last three NCAA championships (2018 & '19-LBSU and 2021-UH).
- LBSU leads the all-time series 48-45 however UH won the last two in the series, taking both matches in Honolulu last season.
- The Beach have won seven straight in the series at The Pyramid dating back to 2017, including the most recent match-up in the 2019 NCAA Championship match.
- UH coach Charlie Wade is 12-15 against the Beach since taking over the program in 2010. LBSU coach Alan Knipe has a 13-8 advantage against Wade's teams.
- UH has won 42 of its last 43 matches when winning the first set including a 17-0 mark this season.
- UH is 1-3 in true road matches this season while the Beach is 11-1 at the Walter Pyramid.
- With 164 aces this season, UH is approaching the program's single-season rally-scoring record of 174 set in 2019.
