CARLSBAD, Calif. – Freshman
Pierce Braun carded a second round 3-under 69 to highlight the University of Hawai'i men's golf team Monday at the UC San Diego Invitational at the La Costa Champions Course.
Following the first two rounds of competition UH is 10
th in the team standings at 590, carding rounds of 298 and 292. Host UCSD leads the field at 17-under 559, six strokes ahead of Sacramento State (565).
Braun rebounded from an opening round 80 with a second round 69 that vaulted him up 28 spots in the leaderboard into a tie for 47
th at 5-over 149. Freshman
Atsuya Oishi carded a second round 2-under 70 and is tied for 33
rd at 2-over 146.
Freshman
Tyler Ogawa shot even par in his second round and is 3-over 147, which is tied for 39
th. Also competing for the Rainbow Warriors are
Garrett Takeuchi (155, t-72
nd) and
Ratio Visuttipinate (157, t-77
th).
Individually, UCSD's David McDowell leads the field at 8-under 136, one stroke ahead of Weber State's Brody Childs.
The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. PT.
