HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (6-3, 3-0 Big West) notched its third consecutive sweep and fifth-straight victory with a 7-0 win over Bucknell (9-5, 0-0 Patriot) on Thursday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Rainbow Wahine shook up both their doubles and singles lineups a little in their rematch against the Bison. In doubles, UH's Nidhi Surapaneni and Gitte Heynemans played at No. 1 for the first time this season, and came away with a 6-2 win over Bucknell's Daniela Bellini and Laurel Utterback. Lea Romain and Satsuki Takamura moved down to play their first match on the No. 2 court, finishing with a 6-1 win over Tyne MIller and Madi Sebulsky. For the first time, Madison Kim and Anna Kern combined as a team and they recorded a 6-2 win over Kate Novak and Anna Lajos at No. 3.

In singles, the Rainbow Wahine kept things rolling, winning their first five matches in two sets while the final match went to a 10-point super tie-breaker.  Romain led off with a quick win over BU's Miller, 6-0, 6-1. Tal Talya Zandberg followed winning by almost an identical score of 6-1, 6-0 against Utterback. UH's No. 5 Heynemans then clinched the win for Hawai'i, cruising past Novak, 6-1, 6-0. UH's Surapaneni held off Sebulsky by a break in the second set for a 6-3, 6-4 on the No. 6 court. Kim them dispatched Lajos in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4. Playing her first match atop the ladder at No. 1 was freshman Ana Vilcek. After dropping the first set by a break, she evened her match at 1-1 to force a super tie-breaker. Vilcek jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but Bucknell's Bellini erased her deficit and rallied to tie things at 5-5. Vilcek then pulled away allowing just one more point against her for a 10-6 win to conclude the match.

The Rainbow Wahine will conclude their seven-match home stand with a pair of Big West matches next week. UH will face UC Davis on Friday, March 25 followed by UC Riverside on Saturday, March 26. Both matches will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
