IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time this season, University of Hawai'i middle blocker
Guilherme Voss was named the Big West Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native averaged 2.00 blocks per set in UH's two-match series sweep of No. 12 Lewis. Voss tallied a career-high 12 blocks (4 solo) in the series finale, marking the most by a UH player in a single match since 2015.
The sophomore also averaged 1.71 kills per set and hit .476 in the series and helped the fourth-ranked Rainbow Warriors improve to 16-3 on the year. For the season, Voss is leading the country with a 1.46 blocks per set average.
Voss also earned the defensive weekly award last month following his performance in the First Point Collegiate Challenge.
