Water Polo Beats Pacific 9-4 For 10th Win of the Season

STOCKTON, CALIF. - The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team took their second win of the weekend in California, with a 9-4 win over Pacific at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool.

Last matched in 2019, UH extended their series lead and win streak to 26-0 against the Tigers.

Junior defender Emma van Rossum led the offensive charge into the first half, junior attacker Olivia Kistler and freshman attacker Paula Prats Rodriguez. Freshman utility Jordan Wedderburn contributed her first goal when she closed out the second quarter by firing one into the net, putting the Rainbow Wahine ahead 6-2.

The Rainbow Wahine kept Pacific on alert throughout the second half, as repeat contributions by Prats Rodriguez and van Rossum kept the scoreboard in the 'Bows favor. The game was put on ice by sophomore attacker Alba Bonamusa Boix, who rocketed in another point during the penalty shot and secured the 9-4 win.

Hawai'i won all four sprints of the day and received solid goaltending from Bridget Layburn and Molly DiLalla, who tallied four saves each. DiLalla picked up her second win of the weekend and improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Rainbow Wahine return to the islands for their home opener versus No. 3 USC at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m. Fans will be in attendance for the first time in two years.
