IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'I women's water polo team cruised to a 20-5 victory over Loyola Marymount in game one at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational Friday afternoon.
The Rainbow Wahine (7-2) built an early lead they never let go, finished with a 62.5 shooting percentage, and the defense held tough.
Senior
Elyse Lemay-Lavoie paced the 'Bows with four goals, while five other members of the squad record multi-goal games.
Lemay-Lavoie scored two goals in the first to give UH an early 4-1 lead. In the second, the Wahine added five more goals, with junior
Olivia Kistler extending the lead to 9-2 before the half.
UH poured it on in the second half with 11 goals. Freshman
Morgan McDowall and sophomore
Lot Stertefeld recorded back-to-back goals in the fourth to emphasize a highly offensive-driven match for the 'Bows.

Bridget Layburn picked up her fourth win, adding five saves and one assist in the first half. Senior
Molly DiLalla came in for the second half, where she recorded six saves and an assist as well.
Hawai'I next faces Michigan Saturday at 6:00 am HT. The 'Bows won their last matchup 14-13 in overtime just two weeks ago and are tied 1-1 in matches against Michigan this season.
