BAKERSFIELD, CALIF.—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team cruised its way to a 75-61 win Thursday evening against CSU Bakersfield at the Icardo Center.
The Rainbow Wahine (14-9, 10-3) swept the season series with CSUB and won their four straight games on the road. The Roadrunners (4-17, 3-9) wrapped up their home schedule and will finish the season with games at UC San Diego and UC Irvine.
CSUB led early on at 10-8 with 4:13 on the clock in the first. From that point on, it was all 'Bows. UH went on a 23-4 run from the first to the second quarter, building to a 31-14 advantage and an eventual 35-19 score at the half.
UH kept the upstart home squad at arm's length for the final 20 minutes as the game stayed as a double-digit lead, with the Roadrunners are getting as close as 10 points in the final frame.

Amy Atwell continued her campaign for Big West Conference Player of the Year with 19 points and seven rebounds on the night. The reigning all-time three-point queen at UH went 4-of-8 from long distance and 7-of-12 from the floor in 31 minutes of action.
Along with Atwell as the game's leading scorer was freshman guard
Daejah Phillips as she accounted for 19 points of her own, including a 9-of-13 mark from the field.
Shooting made all the difference as UH hit 29-of-54 from the floor (53.7%), compared to CSUB going 20-of-59 (33.9%). The three-point shooting also leaned towards the 'Bows with a 9-of-20 (45%) showing, to the Roadrunners 3-of-23 (13%).
UH will wrap up their final road trip of the season on Saturday with a stop at Cal Poly for a 4 p.m. PT tipoff. The 'Bows and Mustangs were scheduled to play earlier in the year on O'ahu, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols. The programs last played on February 5th and 6th of 2021 in San Luis Obispo, California, with the two teams splitting and UH winning the final game of the series.
