Women's Basketball Dominates Cal Poly 73-49 on the Road.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team picked up their fifth straight road win 73-49 at Cal Poly Saturday afternoon.
 
The Rainbow Wahine (15-9, 11-3) snagged their third straight victory as they held the Mustangs to only 15 second-half points. Cal Poly (3-19, 2-11) have now lost five consecutive games as they face UC Irvine next.
 
UH was in a back-and-forth battle as Cal Poly led 18-17 after one-quarter of play. It would remain close to the half, with the 'Bows taking a 37-34 advantage into the locker room.
 
In the second half of the game, Hawai'i turned it on, separating themselves and building a 14-point lead by the end of the third. By the time the buzzer went off for the final time, UH had amassed a 24-point lead in the dominant 73-49 win.
 
Freshman guard Daejah Phillips continues to produce down the stretch with 22 points, seven rebounds, and going 9-for-10 from the field. Senior forward Kallin Spiller tallied her fifth game in double-figures with 13 points and six rebounds. Rounding out UH's double-figure scorer was graduate forward Amy Atwell, who had 13 points in 21 minutes of floor time.
 
Points off turnovers made the difference tonight for the Rainbow Wahine as they outscored Cal Poly 29-to-11 in the category. Shooting percentage across the board also leaned towards the 'Bows with a 29-for-61 (48%) showing, to the Mustangs 18-58 (31%).
 
UH will wrap up their final two games at home next week with CSUN on Thursday, Mar. 3 at 7:00 pm HT and UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 7:00 pm HT. Don't miss out on Saturday night's game as we honor Atwell on Senior Night.
