SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of Hawai'i indoor track and field team completed their first day of competition at the Podium facility for the MPSF Championships Friday afternoon.
After day one, the Rainbow Wahine hold possession over third place, and the 200-meter school record was broken again.
The record-breaking season continued for sophomore sprinter
Alyssa Mae Antolin as she once again shattered the school record she had previously set two weeks prior. In her 200-meter final, she ran a blistering 24.44 but got edged out of first by one-hundredth of a second.
Sophomore jumper
Tierra Sydnor had two top-3 finishes in the long and high jump. Her 18' 7 1/4" mark in the long jump was plenty to secure second place and the seventh longest in UH history. In the high jump, she cleared 5' 3 1/4", grabbing third place in the event.
Sophomore multi-event
Sammie Gordon also cleared the 5' 3 1/4" mark; however, she completed the height on more attempts than Sydnor placing her fourth in the competition. Gordon also managed a second-place finish in the pentathlon 800-meter run.
Sophomore thrower Montserrat Montanes i Arbo had a personal best 56' 0" hammer throw placing her fourth in the standings and third all-time in UH history.
Sophomore pole vaulter
Natasha Tehrani added to the team's top-5 performances after clearing 12' 6" on her second attempt. The mark was a personal best, and she is now tied for seventh all-time in school history.
