LOS ANGELES, CALIF.-  The University of Hawai'i Swim and Dive team will return to the MPSF championships this week, Feb. 16-19, as reigning conference favorites. 

Swimming events will occur at East Los Angeles College Aquatic Center, and diving events will be held at Marguerite Aquatics Center.

Following their past five consecutive championship wins, the Rainbow Wahine look to defend their title for the sixth year in a row, starting with an exhibition 200 medley relay that will compete on Wednesday, Feb. 16. The impressive lineup from the championship team last year includes graduate student Anna Kotonen and junior Anna Friedrich, both MPSF first-team members from a year ago. Senior Daphne Wils returns as the diver to beat in both the one-meter and three-mete events on the diving side. Wils has won gold in both events each of the last two seasons. 

After coming up short of a win in 2021, the men's program has been working towards a promising return. After claiming individual wins in Las Vegas last month, freshmen Tomer Goldfaden and Milan Bukovics will be making their debut at the MPSF championships. Returning to Los Angeles in hopes of another round of individual wins will include junior Timothy Gallagher, who had placed first in backstroke events last year, and senior diver Max Burman, a threat in both the one-meter and three-meter events. 

"I'm proud of all the focus and determination the team has had this whole season," said Head Coach Marcus Guttmann. "We've been working hard all year long, and I'm excited to see what the team is capable of accomplishing."
