Rainbow Warriors Drop Road Contest at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. – The Hawai'i football team dropped its third-straight game in a 55-13 loss at Fresno State Saturday night in a Mountain West road game.
 
The Bulldogs (5-4, 4-1 MW) dominated from start to finish, scoring on each of their eight drives before punting on their final possession. After the Bulldogs got on the board with a 31-yard field goal on their opening drive, former Rainbow Warrior Cameron Lockridge picked off a Brayden Schager pass and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown to make it 10-0 with 4:55 left in the first quarter.
 
Fresno State added to its lead with touchdowns on its next two drives, the first a Jordan Mims 22-yard run and the second a 7-yard strike from Jake Haener to Jalen Moreno-Cropper, making it 24-0 with 7:16 to go in the half. The Bulldogs found the end zone again on their final drive of the half to make it 31-0 at the break.
 
The Bulldogs kept pouring it on after halftime, adding a field goal on their opening drive before scoring on a 59-yard TD pass on their next possession, making it 41-0.
 
Fresno State found the end zone two more times after that to make it 55-0 before the Rainbow Warriors broke through with their first score of the game. Nasjzaé Bryant-Lelei capped off a 13-play, 75-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:46 left in the game.
 
The Rainbow Warriors (2-8, 1-4 MW) added another score on their final drive of the game, as Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala hauled in his first career touchdown reception on a 4-yard pass from Schager in the final minute of the game.
 
Logan Taylor continued to be around the football on the defensive side of the ball, reaching double-digits in tackles for the third-straight game with a team-high 11 Taylor has recorded 40 tackles in the last three games, making at least 11 in each of those contests.
 
Tylan Hines led the Warrior rushing attack for the second-straight week, finishing with 79 yards on 11 carries a week after turning in his first career 100-yard rushing game. He also caught four passes for a team-leading 53 yards, giving him 132 yards from scrimmage. Schager set a career-high with 49 yards on the ground on eight attempts, highlighted by a 24-yard run on UH's scoring drive.
 
The Rainbow Warriors return to the islands for their first of back-to-back home games, beginning with a matchup against Utah State on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
