HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team dropped its fourth-straight game, falling 41-34 to Utah State at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex Saturday night.
The Rainbow Warriors (2-9, 1-5 MW) out-gained the Aggies (5-5, 4-2 MW) 541 to 374 but committed four turnovers that the Aggies turned into 10 points while forcing none. Along with a season-high in yards, UH accumulated 306 passing yards, 235 rushing yards, and 34 points, all season-highs. The UH defense stepped up in a big way in the second half, only allowing 74 yards of offense.
USU scored the first 10 points of the game, the first being a 68-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive before adding a field goal following a muffed punt with 1:43 left in the opening quarter.
The Warriors answered with a touchdown on their ensuing drive, going 75-yards in seven plays to cut the deficit to 10-7. After junior running back Nasjzae Bryant-Lelei broke off a 43-yard run on fourth down on the final play of the first quarter, sophomore quarterback

The Aggies added a pair of touchdowns on both sides of a 49-yard field goal by junior placekicker
Matthew Shipley to make it a 24-10 game at halftime. UH did come up with a field goal block on a 39-yard attempt at the 3:29 mark by senior defensive tackle

The Warriors struck first in the second half, finding the end zone on their opening drive of the third quarter after forcing a three-and-out. UH ran the ball seven times on an eight-play, 61-yard drive that Bryant-Lelei capped off with a four-yard scoring run.
USU scored the next 10 points to take a 34-17 lead, but Hawai'i answered by finding the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Schager connected with
Caleb Phillips for a 31-yard highlight reel of a catch down the sideline for a touchdown on a fourth-down play, putting UH within 10 as 12:26 remained in the game.
The two teams traded stops over the next handful of possessions before a USU pick-six sealed the game with 4:33 remaining. Freshman running back Tylan Hines added a late score for the Warriors, breaking off the longest rushing play of the season with a 69-yard touchdown.UH got another stop and added a field goal to get within seven but couldn't recover an onside kick with 18 seconds left.
Schager threw for a career-high 306 yards, going 23-of-46 with a pair of touchdowns and three interceptions. Senior running back
Dedrick Parson went over 100 yards on the ground for the second time this year, with 101 yards on 16 carries, while Hines added 97 yards and nine carries in addition to his TD.
Logan Taylor led the way defensively again, recording double-digit tackles for the fourth-straight game, finishing with a team-high 13 stops. Peter Manuma turned in another solid day defensively, making nine tackles, while sophomore safety Meki Pei matched a season-high with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks.
UH's four-game losing streak is its longest of the season and longest since the 2018 season.
The Warriors close out their home schedule next week when they host UNLV for Senior Night starting at 6 p.m.
