HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team makes its 2022-23 debut with the UH 'Anuenue Invitational which runs over the span of two weekends. The Rainbow Wahine will start the tournament this weekend beginning at 4:00 p.m. HT on Friday, Oct. 7 followed on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10:00 a.m. HT. The Invitational will be played at the UH Tennis Complex.
The tournament will conclude a week later. Play will resume on Friday, Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. HT and conclude on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m. HT. The Rainbow Wahine will compete against players from HPU.
Junior Léa Romain is the top returner for the Rainbow Wahine. Last season, the native of Mirabeau, France earned All-Big West First Team honors in singles after posting a 10-5 overall record and a perfect 5-0 conference mark. Romain and partner
Satsuki Takamura (Saitama, Japan) were tabbed to the Big West Second Team in doubles. Together the duo recorded a 4-4 overall record while going 2-1 in conference play. Both Takamura and sophomore Ana Vilck (Pancevo, Serbia) were named to Big West honorable mention in singles. Vilcek played well in her rookie season at Hawai'i, posting a 9-5 overall recor and a 4-1 mark in the Big West.
