REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing team finished second at the PCCSC Women's Fall Championship held this past weekend in the Bay Area. Host Stanford took home the regatta title.
The competition was split into two separate days of fleet racing with the Cardinal taking full advantage of their home waters. They easily distanced themselves from the field averaging better than a 50-point cushion each day from its closest competitor which were the Rainbow Wahine.
UH was among nine schools to compete over the weekend as 15 totals races were completed in light winds. Sailing for the Rainbow Wahine were
Mercy Tangredi (skipper),
Taylor Ledgerwood (crew),
Vivian Bonsager (skipper)
Sophia Shaeffer (crew),
Morgan Carew (skipper) and
Anna Kalabukhova (crew). UH did manage to beat the entire field in one the six races held on Sunday.
The regatta wrapped up the team's fall campaign as the Rainbow Wahine will return to the competition in January during the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite.
