Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (2-1, 0-0 BWC) earned a tough win over a talented Weber State squad, 4-1. The two teams battled at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Wildcats struck first, taking the doubles point to go up 1-0. WSU's No. 2 duo of Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani defeated UH's Simão Telo Alves and Karl Collins, 6-2. Weber State's Jordan Coutinho and Arthur Serfim then captured the point with a 6-4 win over UH's No. 1 Andre Ilagan and Axel Labrunie for the early lead.
 
From that point however, it was all Hawai'i. UH's No. 6 Killian Maitre coasted past Chia-Chien Lin in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 to knot the team score at 1-1. Eleventh-ranked Andre Ilagan then notched his first win of 2022 with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over WSU's Sebastian Buxman to give UH the lead for good. Hawai'i's No. 2 Blaz Seric followed by holding off Sarap by just a break in both sets, 6-4, 7-5.
 
Hawai'i's Guillaume Tattevin came through in the clutch to clinched the match with a gritty, three-set win over Marouani, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
 
"What a match!" exclaimed head coach Jöel Kusnierz. "I'm very proud of my team for competing with class and getting through today's opponent. We played with a lot of heart and earned that win today."

The Rainbow Warriors wrap up their four-match roadtrip in Las Vegas on Sunday. The 'Bows will play a single match against former WAC rival, New Mexico State at 9:00 a.m. HT at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
