Men's Basketball

Pair of Rainbow Warriors Gain NABC Academic Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its 2020-21 NABC Honors Court, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season with University of Hawai'i's Mate Colina and Zoar Nedd making the list.

It is the second straight year that Colina, a human development and family studies major, made the Honors Court. Earlier this summer, the native of Melbourne, Australia, earned all-Big West academic honors for the third straight year.

Nedd, meanwhile, earned a spot on the list after becoming the team's top scholar during this past academic year. The native of Kapolei, O'ahu is majoring in communication with a minor in ethnic studies.

Incoming transfer Kamaka Heppa also earned a sport on the list after excelling in the classroom while pursing a degree in sports managment at the University of Texas.

The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. They must hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year; be a junior or senior in academic standing; and have been enrolled  at least one year at their current institution.
