HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team had 11 selections on Athlon's Preseason All-Mountain West including first-teamers Calvin Turner (all-purpose), Darius Muasau (linebacker), and Cortez Davis (cornerback).
 
The 11 selections were tied for the fourth-most among MW teams behind Boise State and Nevada (15) and San Jose State (13).
 
In addition to being named to the first-team as an all-purpose player, Turner was picked as a fourth-team kickoff return specialist.  
 
Two Rainbow Warriors were selected to the third-team – safety Khoury Bethley and punter Adam Stack – while five members were named to the fourth team – wide receiver Jared Smart, offensive linemen Gene Pryor, Solo Vaipulu, and Michael Eletise, and defensive lineman Blessman Ta'ala.
 
In his first season at Hawai'i in 2020, Turner was arguably one of the most versatile players in recent history, lining up at running back, wide receiver, wildcat quarterback and returned kickoffs and punts. The Savannah, Ga., native led the MW in total touchdowns (11) and had four of UH's longest plays from scrimmage, including three catches of 70+ yards.
 
A first-team all-MW selection in 2020, Muasau led the conference and ranked fourth nationally in solo tackles per game (7.6) while also leading the team in tackles-for-loss (9.5) sacks (4.5), and quarterback hurries (7). The 'Ewa Beach, O'ahu native was one of just two UH players in the last nine seasons to hit the century mark in season tackles (104) and did so in an abbreviated season.
 
Davis was the team's shutdown corner last season while earning second-team all-conference honors. The Decatur, Ga., native held Nevada's Romeo Doubs, one of the nation's leading receivers, to only one catch for 10 yards to help key UH's win over the previously undefeated Wolf Pack.
