SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning, the University of Hawai'i was outscored 13-1 by Cal Poly thanks to a four run sixth and a six run seventh inning on Friday.
Hawai'i (24-23, 16-21 Big West) got off to a hot start in the second inning thanks to a lead-off walk on four pitches by designated hitter
Dustin Demeter and then an RBI double by left fielder
Jacob Igawa two pitches later to score Demeter from first base. A single through the left side by catcher
Tyler Murray gave the 'Bows the 2-0 lead.
The Mustangs (28-25, 18-19 Big West) got a pair back off sophomore starting pitcher
Aaron Davenport in the bottom of the second and then took the lead in the fifth inning.
Center fielder
Adam Fogel tied the game in the top of the sixth with a two-out homer to left field, his fourth of the season.
Cal Poly then scored 10-straight runs off Davenport (3-6) and then the second relief pitcher for Hawai'i, redshirt freshman
Trevor Ichimura, including a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh with two outs.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. HT. Sophomore
Cade Halemanu will get the ball for Hawai'i in game one.
