Rainbow Sailors Make Long-Awaited Return To The Water

After more than a year-long pause, the University of Hawai'i coed and women's sailing teams return to the competition waters as the Rainbows head to Northern California for the Pacific Coast Conference Championships in Redwood City, April 24-25.

A total of five teams will compete in three separate events over the weekend. The teams include Hawaii, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and host Stanford. The competition begins on the morning of Saturday, April 24 with the coed championships, followed later that afternoon with the women's championship. The weekend will wrap up with the team race championship on Sunday, April 25.

The UH coed team will compete for the first time since March 8 of last year when the team finished sixth in the Port of Los Angeles Cup in Southern California. Meanwhile, the Rainbow Wahine take to the water for the first time since a solid third-place finish at the South Florida Intersectional in St. Petersburg on Feb. 16, 2020.

A dozen Rainbow sailors will make their way to California to compete, led by co-captains Hayden Lahr and Devon Stapleton. It marks the first time in program history UH boasts an all-female duo of captains.
