DAVIS, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team came up short against Big West Conference foe UC Davis, 4-2, late Sunday morning at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. 

The loss was the third consecutive for the Rainbow Wahine, who dropped to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the BWC. UH fell on the wrong side of doubles competition, after the Aggies secured two straight wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. In singles, Hawai'i managed to pick up early wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts before Davis rallied back to capture the remaining courts and eventually the match.

In doubles, No. 1 duo of Satsuki Takamura and Nikola Dolakova secured UH's lone win, defeating UCD's Sara Tsukamoto and Lauren Ko, 6-4. UH's Rebecca Ehn and Alexis Merrill finished first on the No. 2 court, falling to Shirley Hall and Michelle Zell, 6-2. Similarly, UH's Madison Kim and Lea Romain narrowly fell victim in their No. 3 match against Yana Gurevich and Kristina Evloeva, 6-4.

In singles, the 'Bows started off strong with Takamura and Bojana Markovic winning their matches in straight sets on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts, respectively. Takamura finished first, easily beating Gurevich, 6-1, 6-3. Markovic, who last played in UH's match against UC San Diego on Feb. 22, made a strong return with a win over Michelle Zell, 6-4, 6-0.

However, the Aggies would not go away, coming back with wins on the No. 6 and No. 5 courts. UH's Kim took UCD's Ko to deuce in the first set before Ko pulled out the second, 7-5, 6-3. UH's Merrill also played her opponent, UCD's Evloeva, to deuce before being swept in the second, 7-5, 6-0 which gave the Aggies a 3-2 lead in the dual. The match came down to the No. 1 court, where Dolakova was outmatched against Tsukamoto, 6-4, 6-4. 

Hawai'i will now travel south to go up against 38^th-ranked Stanford Tuesday, April 13 at 11 a.m. PT in Stanford, Calif.
