HONOLULU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team was triumphant in a non-conference match against Portland State, 4-2, after acquiring an early edge over the Vikings due to forfeits Thursday at the UH Tennis Complex. 
 
The Rainbow Wahine (5-3) got the lead prior to the start of the match as the Vikings failed to field a player at either the No. 5 or No. 6 singles courts. 
 
In doubles, all three courts were played to deuce. On the No. 1 court, Satsuki Takamura and Nikola Dolakova trailed 4-0 then rallied past Makoto Ohara and Capucine Sanoner, 7-5. Soon afterward, PSU came back to claim the No. 3 court from UH's Rebecca Ehn and Alexis Merrill as Lotti Meszaros and Emily Rees evened doubles play with a 7-5 win. The doubles point came down to court No. 2, where UH's Lea Romain and Anna Kalabukhova were outplayed by Ashley Ramirez and Gerda Upeniece, 7-5, which secured the doubles point for the Vikings.
 
In singles play, Hawai'i clinched the dual by claiming two more points on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, adding on to their two points from the earlier forfeits. Takamura hardly broke a sweat against Rees in two sets, 6-0, 6-0. Romain finished second after having to retire her match against Ramirez down a set and 2-1 in the second on Court No. 3. Moments later, Dolakova wrapped up the dual after defeating Meszaros on No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-3, solidifying the win for the Rainbow Wahine.
 
The 'Bows will next close out their home schedule by hosting UC Santa Barbara Saturday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex. Following the match, the team will honor four seniors.
