2021 Football Schedule Announced

HONOLULU – The 2021 University of Hawai'i football schedule is complete and includes 13 games beginning with a non-conference match-up against UCLA, Aug. 28 in Pasadena, Calif.
 
The 2021 schedule also features six home games, all of which will be played on-campus at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. The facility will be retrofitted to host football games on the Mānoa campus for the first time in school history. 

UH's home opener is Sept. 4 against Portland State. The non-conference slate also includes at Sept. 11 date at Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., and a rare in-season, home-and-home series with New Mexico State – Sept. 25 in Las Cruces, N.M., and Oct. 23 in Honolulu. 
 
Mountain West play begins Sept. 18 against defending league champion San Jose State at Ching Complex. UH will also host MW foes Fresno State (Oct. 2), San Diego State (Nov. 6) and Colorado State (Nov. 20) while travelling to Nevada (Oct. 16), Utah State (Oct. 30), UNLV (Nov. 13), and Wyoming (Nov. 27).
 
The Mountain West Championship Game will be held Saturday, Dec. 4. 
 
Ticket information for home games at Ching Complex will be announced at a later date. Attendance is still subject to state and county guidelines.

Hawai'i Schedule Notes
  • UH has more road games than home games for the first time in program history.
  • UH's six home games marks the fewest since 2017* while its seven road games are the most in program history. (* excluding 2020 season)
  • UH will open and close the season on the road for the second time in the last four years. (also in 2018) 
  • UH will play a Week 0 road/neutral site game for the fourth time since 2016.
  • UH will open the season on the road/neutral site for the fifth time in the last six years and will conclude the season on the road for the third time in the last eight seasons.
  • UH will not play consecutive home or road games this season.
  • UH will play at least two Pac-12 teams in the same season for the sixth time since 2011 and this year marks the first time in program history they'll play two Pac-12 teams on the road in the same season.
  • UH will play three rivalry trophy games – Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy (Sept. 18 vs. San Jose State), Island Showdown Trophy (Nov. 13 at UNLV), and Paniolo Trophy (Nov. 27 at Wyoming).
  • UH has one bye week (Oct. 9).
  • UH is expected to play home games at Ching Complex for the next several years while the New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District is constructed. For nearly a century, UH played home games at two venues – Aloha Stadium in Hālawa (1975-2019) and Honolulu Stadium in Mō'ili'ili (1926-74). Prior to Honolulu Stadium, Hawai'i played at various sites including Punahou's Alexander Field and Mō'ili'ili Field.
