IRVINE, Calif. – In a back-and-forth slugfest, the Hawai'i baseball team dropped the series finale to UC Irvine 20-10 in seven innings on Sunday.
Hawai'i (11-7, 3-5 Big West) was down 8-1 in through four innings, but tied the ballgame in the fifth with a seven-run inning. The Rainbow Warriors took the lead in the sixth, but saw the lead evaporate in the bottom half of the inning. The Anteaters walked-off the game with eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
UC Irvine (14-7, 8-0 Big West) scored two or more runs in the first three innings, and scored in five different innings. Hawaii scored a run in the second inning, seven in the fifth and two in the sixth.
The seven-run fifth inning is the most runs the Rainbow Warriors have scored against a D-I opponent in an inning this year, scoring the seven runs on six hits. As a team, Hawaii slapped 12 hits, including four extra-base hits. Center fielder

Four different Hawai'i hitters had two hits, including short stop
Kole Kaler who has two hits in four-straight games. Kaler was joined by Fogel, designated hitter
Safea Villaruz-Mauai and Ujimori.

Tyler Best and Villaruz-Mauai all had two RBI games.
Hawai'i used eight pitchers in the game with sophomore
Cameron Hagan throwing the most innings, 2.1 IP in relief. Freshman
Tai Atkins faced two batters and was the only pitcher to not allow a run.
The Rainbow Warriors will take on UC Santa Barbara in a four-game series at Les Murakami Stadium April 2-4.
