SAN DIEGO, Calif. - After a historic run at the ITA All-American Championships in October, junior
Andre Ilagan will represent the University of Hawai
'i once again on the national stage at the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif.
The invite only event is the grand finale to the fall collegiate tennis season and features 32 of the nation's top collegiate men's singles players and 32 of the nation's top collegiate men's doubles teams. Ilagan is the only Rainbow Warrior ever to be invited to the championships, which is in its fifth year after replacing the previously held ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in 2017.
Ilagan had an outstanding run at the ITA All-American Championships last month, going into the tournament unranked but managing to surpass six nationally ranked players to eventually earn a spot in the final four. Ilagan's historic run went deeper into the tourney than any previous Rainbow Warrior.
The 2021 ITA National Fall Championships will be held from Thursday, Nov. 4 to Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Barnes Tennis Center. Competition will begin on Thursday with the Round of 32 singles, followed by Round of 16 main draw and consolation matches on Nov. 5. Singles will be played no-ad, best two-out-of-three with tie break sets for all draws.
