DALLAS, TEXAS.—The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swim teams will return to action with the SMU Invite at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium beginning on Thursday.
The three-day event will test the Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine as they continue to grind towards a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title, facing Fresno State, Drury and SMU. Since late October, Thursday will mark the first event when UH traveled to Tucson, Arizona, for a dual meet with Arizona and Wisconsin. UH showed promise against elite competition but did not take away a win in any of the events.
Interim head coach Marcus Guttman and assistant coach
Nick Folker have stressed the importance of team relays over the past two seasons. The invite will present another opportunity to grow in those relays. UH has multiple teams registered in the numerous relays and sits atop the seeding with the best times amongst the four schools. The only relays they don't are the men's and women's 200 freestyle and the men's 400 freestyle.
Graduate student
Anna Kotonen had the best performance of the women's team back in late October as she had several top-three individual finishes, as well as multiple top-three relay finishes.
The event will also mark the first time this season, UH diving will compete in the platform. At Arizona, only the three-meter and one-meter were available. Historically UH has always competed well in the platform. Still, this season is an unknown as defending MPSF Divers of the Year senior
Max Burman and junior
Daphne Wils are more known for their top scores in the one-meter and three-meter.
Action will begin Thursday afternoon and will continue into Saturday.
