Rainbow Sailors Place Third in PCCSC Fall Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team wrapped up its fall season with a third place finished in the Fall Pacific Coast Championships hosted by UC Santa Barbara, November 13-14.

A total of 15 schools competed over the weekend with host USCB taking home the title and Stanford finishing second. There was little to no wind for a majority of the weekend, creating a significantly different environment compared to the usual heavier wind the 'Bows experience at home. Still UH raced to its highest finsh in the event since 2015 when it captured the regatta.

The weekend saw a total of 18 races in three different divisions. Skippers Bastien Rasse, Owen Lahr, and Samuel Patton totaled 25, 20, and 35 points respectively for a cumulative of 79 points. Crews for the regatta were Devon Stapleton, Frances Tarpey-Schwed, and Samuel Patton.

The coed team next looks to January and the start of the spring season as they host the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite at home.
