HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i cross country team will stay at home this weekend to race in the Chaminade Invitational this Saturday, Oct. 9 at Kapiolani Park. The women's 5k will begin at 7:15 a.m.
"It's always fun to compete on island, a little different this year due to local Covid-19 restrictions," said UH head coach Tim Boyce. "Nonetheless, we'll line up a strong group and take advantage of this opportunity to run in a familiar locale and continue our team building process."
The Rainbow Wahine returned to Hawai'i with a fifth place team finish last Saturday after competing in the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. There, junior Sophia Morgan continued to lead the 'Bows as UH's top finisher, finishing fourth overall while senior Olivia Hill finished second amongst the team, placing 15th overall.
Additionally, freshman Sam North finished third at Willamette - the Colorado native has consistently finished within the top five amongst the Wahine throughout Hawai'i's three meets thus far this season.
The Rainbow Wahine last participated in the Chaminade Invite in 2019, where the 'Bows racked up 41 points to place second among other local teams, including HPU, Hawai'i-Hilo, and Chaminade.
