IRVINE, Calif.—University of Hawai'i setter
Kate Lang earned her second-straight, Big West Freshman of the Week award on Monday after posting a pair of double-doubles against Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton.
In UH's Big West home opener against Long Beach State, Lang dished out 37 assists with 11 digs for her first career double-double. For the third straight match and just the fourth time this season, Hawai'i hit over .300 with a .349 hitting percentage. Lang also recorded a service ace and a block to fill her stat line.
Lang followed against Cal State Fullerton with career highs in assists (51) and digs (17). She also contributed with a pair of blocks, a kill and a service ace in the five set win.
In the two matches combined, with Lang at the controls for most of the matches, she led a balanced hitting attack, with 88 total assists with 72 kills coming from UH's outside hitters and 38 from the middles.
