HONOLULU - Following a week off from competition, the University of Hawai'i cross country team will rally going into the 2021 Big West Cross Country Championships this week, Friday, Oct. 29th, in Davis, Calif. The women's 6k race will begin at 10 a.m. PST (7:00 a.m. HST).
"We are looking forward to the Big West Championships," said UH head coach Tim Boyce. "We're trying our best to work through a few recent health setbacks, but the team is focused on competing to the best of their ability. We've been preparing all season for this meet."
Hosted by UC Davis, the women's 6k race will begin at approximately 10 a.m. PST. The 'Bows' travel squad includes freshmen Sacia Ashe, Becca Bodine, and Sam North, sophomores Sophia Lodigiani and Terra Stevens, juniors Ellis Collins and Sophia Morgan, and senior Olivia Hill.
The 'Bows have achieved markedly thus far this season, placing first at the Big Wave and Chaminade Invitationals and fifth at Charles Bowles. Standouts include Morgan, who has been UH's top finisher for four out of five meets, and North who's first-place performance at the Chaminade Invite led to her first Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week nomination.
The Rainbow Wahine last competed in the Big West Championships in 2019, where the team took eighth overall.
