SALEM, Ore. − Greeted by clear skies and sunny weather, the University of Hawai'i cross country team placed fifth overall at the 64th Charles Bowles Invitational Saturday, at Willamette University. For the fourth straight meet of the season, junior 
Sophia Morgan led the Rainbow Wahine, finishing fourth overall.
"I would say we're pleased, but not satisfied, with the results today." Hawai'i head coach Tim Boyce said. "Our efforts were strong and the ladies started the race very well. We're training pretty hard currently to be at our best in four weeks, but this is another positive experience to build on".
Morgan continues her streak of being UH's top finisher, placing fourth out of the 150+ runners participating after finishing with a mark of 18 minutes and 22.7 seconds.
Following Morgan, the next of the Rainbow Wahine to cross the finish line was senior Olivia Hill, who placed 15th with a 18 minute and 48.6 second finish and freshman Samantha North, who placed 45th after finishing at 19:01.4.
Portland and George Fox University led the meet followed by Seattle U. and Oregon State. Overall, UH accumulated 126 points after running a total time of 1:35:27 and an average of 19:06 in the 5k.
The Rainbow Wahine now look to compete at home next week  in the Chaminade Invitational, hosted by Chaminade University. The meet will be held at Kapiolani Park on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7 a.m.
